A song from Tori Amos. Katrina Freedman, vocals; Michael Hughes, guitars, bass; Mike Hanson, percussion.
Silver Lining was a group of talented high school girls who loved to sing. I ran a Coffeehouse series at Oak Hill High School where I taught English, and I accompanied them when they performedat first individually, and then collectively. At the beginning of their senior year, we decided to make a recording. We recorded this in my home studio over the course of that school year, finishing the project just in time for graduation. It was a huge hit with the graduating class, their families and the faculty of the school. Silver Lining was: Christina Thibault, Katrina Freedman, Jen Hinkley, Crystal Brissette, Jessica Bragdon and Ai Matsumoto, our wonderful Japanese exchange student. The recording was done on a Roland VS-1680, which I learned on the fly that year. I did the mixing with help from Christina Thibault, who also did the cover art. The mics used were borrowed from my old friend Don Hinkley. Additional musicians included Jim Schram, guitar; Kim Blais, accordion; John Neal, keyboards; Greg Boardman, viola; Adam Frederick, bass; and Mike Hanson, percussion. I played guitar, mandolin, bass, Dobro and synth. We did most of our recording sessions on Sunday afternoons. By the time May arrived, we agreed that the title of this recording project could only be “A Month of Sundays.”

Lyrics
Winter Snow can wait I forgot my mittens  Wipe my nose get my new boots on  I get a little warm in my heart when I think of winter  I put my hand in my father's glove I run off where the drifts get deeper  Sleeping Beauty trips me with a frown I hear a voice you must learn to stand up  For yourself cause I can't always be around  He says when you gonna make up your mind  When you gonna love you as much as I do  When you gonna make up your mind  'Cause things are gonna change so fast  All the white horses are still in bed  I tell you that I'll always want you near  You say that things change my dear  Boys get discovered as winter melts  Flowers come pleading for the sun  Years go by and I'm here still waiting  With a ring where some snowman was Mirror mirror where's the crystal palace  But I only can see myself  Skating around the truth who I am  But I know, Dad, the ice is getting thin  When you gonna make up your mind  When you gonna love you as much as I do  When you gonna make up your mind  'Cause things are gonna change so fast  All the white horses are still in bed  I tell you that I'll always want you near  You say that things change my dear  Hair is gray and the fires are burning  So many dreams on the shelf  You say I wanted you to be proud of me I've always wanted that myself  When you gonna make up your mind  When you gonna love you as much as I do  When you gonna make up your mind  'Cause things are gonna change so fast  All the white horses have gone ahead  I tell you that I'll always want you near  You say that things change my dear  They never change  All the white horses are gone --Tori Amos
