Story behind the song
I had recorded this as a mono acoustic/vocal scratch track to save the idea and to help generate some production thoughts. I liked the first take so I decided to stay with my original mono acoustic/vocal track and just use it as the base to build the song around. I wanted to keep the live vibe and dynamics as much as I could. Since they were not recorded to any type of click track it became a bit of a challenge matching the variable timing. I struggled a bit until I told myself it was just like playing with some live musicians at a gig where the tempo is subject to changes through a song. Once I got that in my head the work started to flow easier. - 2 tracks of original acoustic and lead vocal. - 1 track lead vocal physically doubling the original lead vocal - 6 tracks of harmony vocals (3 harmonies each physically doubled) - 1 track lead guitar - My new Gibson SG Tribute with P90 pickups - 1964 Fender Tremolux amp - 2 tracks harmony guitar - SG and Tremolux amp - 1 track bass guitar - Fender Jazz - 1 track - egg shakers
Lyrics
Lady In The Mirror (V1) The night it was a dark one Considering the moon's fullness I was held in fascination At the power of the illumination That's when you revealed yourself Your smile was so infectious Turning my world upside down With your siren's alluring sound (Chr) Lady in the mirror Looking at the man in the room I'm being drawn nearer I feel I'm being consumed With the lady In the mirror (V2) I'm out here wondering What you're in there thinking Am I to believe? That you can reach out and touch me? The night air is so crisp With the smell of sweet incense It sustains my tomorrow Knowing all along time is borrowed (Chorus) (Brdg) You seem to know that I'm here Watching every move with your stare You appear so majestically An apparition for all eternity (Repeat Chr 2x) Farrell Jackson © 5-18-15

Great song, takes me back to the great singer/songwriters of the 70s, and that's a great place to be. The sparse arrangement works really well and the guitar lead around 3:30 and the b/v after that are so atmospheric. Top marks.

You've got a wonder kind of great sound similar like that of Pink Floyd mixed with Stephen Stills guitar. Love the sound. Very very good recordings and song composition and excellent recording quality.
